ROB DYSON NAMED TO IMSA HALL OF FAME

Poughkeepsie, NY (March 17, 2025) – In recognition of his five-decade career in motorsport and specifically in tribute to his accomplishments in sports car racing as a driver and team owner, Rob Dyson has been selected for induction to the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Hall of Fame.

Dyson joins five other sports car racing legends, including Bob Akin, Elliott Forbes-Robinson, Dan Gurney, Bob Tullius and Don Panoz as 2025 inductees.

“This is a great honor,” Dyson said following the announcement by IMSA. “It is particularly meaningful for me to be included with Bob Akin, who was a close friend and great competitor; Elliot Forbes-Robinson, who was for many years a member of the Dyson Racing Team; the legendary Dan Gurney; Bob Tullius, one of our greatly respected rivals in IMSA’s Camel GTP class; and Don Panoz, the founder of IMSA’s American Le Mans Series and a stalwart supporter of sports car racing.”

IMSA’s announcement of the Hall of Fame’s third annual class of inductees included the following passage briefly describing Dyson’s career as a driver and team owner:

“Another racer/team owner, Dyson’s start in the sport can be traced to club racing in 1974. He began competing in IMSA as a driver/owner in 1983, moving up to the GTP class in 1985 and becoming instantly successful, the team collecting wins in four straight seasons in the highly competitive class. From 1995-2002, Dyson Racing won 36 races including the overall victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in 1997 and ’99. The team owner was part of the driver lineup for the ’97 triumph as well as the SR class win at Daytona in 2000.”
