POUGHKEEPSIE, NEY, JAN. 30 — The Thetford / Norcold Dyson Racing Team is looking forward to a busy year in 2001. After Daytona, the squad will evaluate its options, but it is likely to compete in both Grand American and American Le Mans Series events.
James Weaver, Butch Leitzinger, and Elliott Forbes-Robinson will be leading the driving strength, with car owner Rob Dyson expected to participate in selected events. Briton Andy Wallace, who will partner Weaver and Leitzinger at Daytona, will probably rejoin the team for selected Grand-Am events.
For Daytona, the team will campaign two of its proven Riley and Scott mk3 Fords. In late February, the team will be taking delivery of Riley and Scott mk3C, the evolution of the marque`s ultra-successful mk3. Dyson intends to test and develop the new car in time for the Sebring 12 Hours on March 17. Sebring remains the one major North American sports car event that the team has yet to win overall.
The team`s schedule is not yet etched in stone, but it is certain that the team will compete on Goodyear tires. Goodyears have been a constant factor in each of the team`s category-leading 29 victories over the past seven seasons. The team will continue to work closely with Goodyear to add to this tally throughout the 2001 season.
